Soludo mourns school pupil swept away by flood in Anambra

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo expressed his deepest condolences to the family of 10-year-old pupil Success Ezenwafor, who tragically drowned in floodwaters while en route to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Primary School in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra. On Tuesday, Ezenwafor's school bus was overturned by floodwaters, trapping him along with seven other schoolchildren and two adults.

All nine occupants were rescued by the Anambra State Police Command and local residents and taken to Amaku University Teaching Hospital in Awka. However, Success was swept away by the flood and was recovered on Wednesday morning. The governor's sympathy was conveyed at a church service commemorating Nigeria's 66th Independence anniversary in Awka, where he urged citizens and leaders to reflect on the importance of personal responsibility in preventing future disasters.
