Soludo mourns school pupil swept away by flood in Anambra

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has mourned the loss of a school pupil, Success Ezenwafor, who was tragically swept away by floodwaters in Isiagu, Awka South LGA. Success was on his way to school when the school bus he was traveling in was overturned by floodwaters, leading to the rescue of nine other occupants, including seven schoolchildren and two adults.

Success was later found and recovered, but his remains were not discovered until Wednesday morning. The governor expressed deep sorrow for the loss, which has deeply affected the Ezenwafor family, the school, and the community of Ekwulobia in Aguata LGA. In a speech during a church service for Nigeria's 66th Independence anniversary, Soludo called for immediate action to address flooding and erosion in the state, urging residents to contain rainwater, avoid blocking drainages, plant trees, and clean drainage systems.

He emphasized the collective responsibility of all citizens to safeguard their communities and prevent future tragedies.
