Scottie Scheffler found himself facing a challenge at the Presidents Cup on Sunday when a spectator in the crowd disrupted his concentration during a crucial moment. The top-ranked American golfer was leading Colombian rival Nico Echavarria by three holes when the uproar occurred on the 14th hole. Echavarria's ball sailed well right as he glared at the culprit, who had yelled as Scheffler took his tee shot.

The incident occurred late in the concluding singles matches, where the United States secured yet another win, outplaying the Internationals with a score of 17-13.

Scheffler, a four-time major champion, marched towards the gallery and expressed his disapproval, stating, "There's no place for that." He backed up his stance later on the hole by conceding a seemingly unnecessary chip shot, resulting in both players halving the hole. This decision cost Scheffler a four-shot lead he would have had with four holes remaining.

After the match, Scheffler explained that the distraction was frustrating and detrimental to his performance. Despite the challenging environment, Echavarria commended Scheffler for his sportsmanship, calling him "a class act."
