Rosmah faces Mareva injunction bid, 1MDB seeks to freeze US$346m luxury assets

KUALA LUMPUR — The High Court has set January 7, 2028, for the hearing of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and 10 other companies' Mareva injunction application against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. The lawsuit is related to luxury goods reportedly worth over US$346 million (RM1.41 billion) that were allegedly obtained using misappropriated 1MDB funds.

Judicial Commissioner Datuk Muhammad Adam @ Edward Abdullah announced the hearing date during case management proceedings, noting that the court will also decide on the injunction application on the same day. A Mareva injunction is a protective order that would prevent Rosmah from selling the assets while the case is ongoing. The suit was originally filed on May 9, 2024, by 1MDB and its subsidiaries, along with various other plaintiffs, seeking an order to compel Rosmah to pay the sum or an equivalent amount and to declare them the lawful owners of the luxury goods. The trial is set to take place between June 28 and July 30, 2027.
