PTI dares govt to impose governor’s rule in KP

Islamabad/Peshawar: Amid rising calls from the center for imposing a governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior PTI leader Naeem Haider Panjutha has challenged the federal government to proceed with the move. He warned that such action would further deteriorate the situation in the province. Panjutha accused the government of stripping people of their majority, filing politically motivated cases, and imprisoning numerous individuals, including Imran Khan.

He emphasized that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have the capability to overthrow the governor's rule if imposed. Panjutha reaffirmed that the PTI movement will persist until constitutional supremacy, the rule of law, and the restoration of Imran Khan's freedom are achieved. PTI parliamentary leader Shahid Khattak questioned the point of staying in a parliament that cannot protect its own members' dignity and security.

He proposed resigning from the assembly and taking the struggle to the streets, vowing not to back down until Imran Khan's release and the restoration of justice and constitutional supremacy. KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi revealed that discussions had taken place regarding the possibility of imposing a governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prior to PTI's protest march, which was initially scheduled for September 27 but later moved to October 4.

KP Speaker Babar Saleem Swati requested details from the provincial police chief regarding arrested or detained lawmakers, citing specific constitutional articles and assembly rules. The speaker instructed the assembly secretariat to compile a report on incidents involving lawmakers over the past two weeks, including arrests, raids, and searches, and submit it along with records of related complaints to the assembly secretariat.
