Pemberi maklumat kartel akan dapat perlindungan, ganjaran, kata MyCC

Malaysia's Competition Commission of Malaysia (MyCC) is set to strengthen protection and award rewards to whistleblowers who expose anti-competition practices under the Competition Act 2010 (Act 712) and Act 713. MyCC Executive Director Iskandar Ismail explained that such protection is crucial because anti-competition activities often occur covertly.

The safeguards are being enhanced along with the introduction of rewards, as previous measures had proven insufficient - some individuals providing information have withdrawn their claims once no reward was offered. Iskandar highlighted that individuals may fear losing their jobs if they disclose sensitive company information, a factor that deters them from coming forward.

MyCC is now prepared to offer more comprehensive protection to anyone who provides information about anti-competition practices. This move will also facilitate public individuals, particularly users, in making complaints related to anti-competition practices. With the enhanced protection in place, it will be easier for the public, especially users, to file complaints.

MyCC will continue to advocate among users monthly to encourage more whistleblowing. Additionally, MyCC invites individuals or companies with information related to cartels to file complaints through various channels, including the WhatsApp application. MyCC's expanded role includes conducting market research that significantly impacts the public, including the digital economy and e-commerce.

Section 11 of Act 712 grants MyCC the authority to conduct market studies related to relevant sectors that affect users. Cooperation with competition authorities in other countries enables MyCC to gather information to ensure the domestic market does not become a victim of cross-border anti-competition practices.
