Palantir-sjefen kjøper enorm skogeiendom i Sverige for 225 millioner

Palantir CEO Alex Karp has purchased a vast forest estate in Sweden for 225 million Norwegian kroner, reported Tidningen Härjedalen. The acquisition is through the newly established Cladonia Skog AB, with Karp listed as its true owner. He paid 235 million Swedish kroner for the property, which belonged to forestry company SCA. The estate consists of approximately 15,000 hectares of contiguous woodland located south of Storsjö Kapell in Härjedalen.

The purpose of the acquisition remains unclear, as two hunting clubs have already lost their hunting rights in the area, with a third set to lose theirs next year. SCA stated that the land was sold due to it not being optimal for their forestry operations. Cladonia Skog's managing member, Jenny Lopes Da Silva, emphasized that the new owner is focused on the estate's beauty and preservation.

Karp owns cabins on Sjusjøen and Hafjell, and a residence in Tromsø, all through his company Hohenems AB. Known for his love of cross-country skiing, Karp often appears in interviews wearing Dæhlie gear. He has also produced videos of himself skiing on snowboards during quarterly presentations. Karp co-founded and serves as CEO of Palantir, which is valued at around $460 billion on the stock market and has seen its share price increase by nearly 700% over the past five years.

Palantir develops AI systems for analyzing large data sets, primarily known for defense technology, including work with the CIA and supplying technology to Ukraine since Russia's invasion in 2022. The company has faced controversy for collaborating with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
