Once a pro fighter, AJ ‘Pyro’ now fights for animals in need

AJ "Pyro" Lias Mansor, a former mixed martial arts fighter and athlete, now dedicates his time and energy to caring for stray animals in Sabah. Known for his muscular build and disciplined nature from his combat sports career, AJ's exterior hides a heart committed to rescuing and nurturing animals that society often overlooks. Despite his challenging physical condition due to spinal injuries, he continues his daily feeding rounds around Kota Kinabalu, where he feeds over 30 stray cats and dogs.

Beyond feeding, AJ also assists with rescue efforts, TNRM measures, and provides care for rescued animals with special needs, some of whom were affected by canine distemper or lost an eye. His commitment to these animals is rooted in his faith, as he believes Islam teaches compassion towards all creatures. AJ's work is financially demanding, costing him thousands of ringgit each month, but he remains steadfast in his mission, advocating for responsible pet ownership and collaboration between authorities and animal welfare groups.
