Northern youths destroy Tinubu’s posters, APC calls for investigation

Youths in the Jega area of Kebbi State destroyed posters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris, according to reports. The protesters, mainly youths, were returning from a football match on Saturday when they began shouting "we don’t want" and began destroying the APC posters. They were also seen stoning and breaking APC posters and billboards in strategic locations within the town.

Additionally, they damaged the windshields of vehicles belonging to a local car dealer. Daily Trust was unable to immediately verify the reasons behind their actions. Security forces were later deployed to the area, dispersing the protesters before normalcy was restored. APC state publicity secretary, Isah Assalafi, called for a full investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators, urging security agencies to "act decisively, investigate thoroughly and prosecute every person found responsible."

He emphasized that nobody should be shielded by political affiliation or influence, and urged other political parties to take responsibility for their supporters' conduct. The APC stated that they would continue to support lawful efforts to protect lives, secure communities, and preserve democratic participation in the state.
