Nishat Power Reports Big Turnaround

Nishat Power Limited (PSX: NPL) has reported a significant turnaround in its financial performance for the fiscal year 2026. The company posted a profit after tax of Rs. 2.48 billion, marking a stark contrast to the loss of Rs. 371 million reported in the previous year, as per the analysis by Arif Habib Limited. The company rewarded shareholders with a cash dividend of Rs.

1 per share for the fourth quarter. NPL's earnings per share (EPS) for FY26 were Rs. 7.01, an improvement from a loss of Rs. 2.11 per share in FY25. In the fourth quarter, EPS was Rs. 2.33, showing a 40 percent decline year over year but a 19 percent increase quarter over quarter. The company's revenue soared to Rs. 11.02 billion during FY2026, up 56 percent from Rs.

7.06 billion in the prior year. For the fourth quarter, revenue was Rs. 5.87 billion, compared to Rs. 1.84 billion in the same period last year. The fourth quarter revenue was bolstered by increased plant utilization, which hit 24.7 percent in June 2026, up from 8.3 percent in June 2025, despite disruptions in RLNG supply and heightened summer demand.

Profit from associates accounted for Rs. 913 million in 4QFY26, largely due to improved performance in the auto segment. Arif Habib Limited projected strong contributions from the auto business, estimating Jaecoo J5 sales at approximately 5,500 units and J7 sales at around 1,000 units during the quarter. Other income for the quarter amounted to Rs.

321 million, or Rs. 0.68 per share after tax, driven by surplus cash and short-term investments. As of June 2026, NPL held Rs. 3.3 billion in such investments.
