Negeri Sembilan govt must function as usual, says Jalaluddin

Negeri Sembilan's chief of Umno, Jalaluddin Alias, emphasized that the state government should continue to operate normally to safeguard the welfare and interests of the populace amid the ongoing political turmoil. Jalaluddin, who presided over a special meeting with Negeri Sembilan BN assemblymen chaired by BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, highlighted the primary objective of the gathering.

The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, included representatives from the BN and Perikatan Nasional backbenchers' chairmen. They convened to explore viable alternatives and formulate a strategy to ensure the state administration continues functioning in the people's best interest, even without the full complement of the state executive council.

Jalaluddin affirmed that the menteri besar has a specific approach to mobilize the government machinery to maintain the agenda for the people's welfare. Meanwhile, Zahid Hamidi stated that the meeting aimed to coordinate and identify the optimal solutions in line with the state constitution and traditional laws. He also granted Ismail Lasim, Negeri Sembilan's chief minister, the authority to seek the best possible resolution, which could involve consultations with the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, traditional leaders such as the Undang Yang Empat and Tunku Besar Tampin, and other influential figures in the customary hierarchy.

Zahid reassured that there was no need to declare a political emergency, as the state's security and public order remained under control.
