NDC orders halt to premature parliamentary campaign activities

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has instructed its members to cease any actions that resemble parliamentary campaigning, with a warning that non-compliance could result in disciplinary measures and severe penalties. This order was communicated in a statement released on Monday, September 14, and signed by the party's General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.

The directive emerged after the party's Functional Executive Committee (FEC) engaged in "extensive deliberations" regarding campaign-related activities among members seeking parliamentary positions in various districts.

The NDC cautioned against organizing or taking part in meetings, engagements, tours, donations, public appearances, or other activities that are perceived as promoting or supporting a parliamentary candidacy before the official start of the nomination process. Such premature activities are deemed inappropriate and could disrupt the party's unity and cohesion.

The party emphasized that any disregard for this directive will be met with disciplinary action and severe sanctions as outlined in the NDC's Constitution, rules, and regulations.

The directive further empowers party officials at regional, constituency, and branch levels to ensure adherence to the order and report any violations to the relevant authorities. The NDC explained that the directive aims to ensure a transparent, orderly, and credible process for selecting its parliamentary candidates. The party committed to announcing the opening of nominations and accompanying guidelines at the appropriate time, with a formal communication scheduled upon the commencement of the process.

The NDC appealed to members to adhere to the party's established procedures and maintain discipline until the formal nomination process begins.
