Man City CEO 'defiant' over Premier League charges

Manchester City's CEO Ferran Soriano has defiantly declared his intention to challenge the Premier League's majority guilty verdict against the club, according to BBC Sport. Soriano made this statement at a board meeting of the European Football Clubs in Copenhagen prior to the club's general assembly on Tuesday. He reiterated the club's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak's letter to fans on Saturday, vowing to fight the charges and emphasizing that the process still has a long way to run.

The club was accused of a variety of rule breaches, primarily concerning inflated sponsorship revenue from affiliated companies and undisclosed payments to skirt financial regulations.

On Friday, it was confirmed that City had been found guilty of the majority of the 115 charges brought against them. In response, Premier League clubs are now seeking legal counsel regarding potential compensation for the charges. BBC Sport has also learned that City will file an appeal. However, sanctions have not yet been announced, but potential repercussions could include a points deduction, expulsion from the Premier League, or substantial fines.
