Madonna, Sabrina Carpenter and Lisa win at MTV’s Video Music Awards

On Sunday, Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter won the Video Music Awards for best collaboration with their song "Bring Your Love," while K-pop star Lisa claimed the award for best pop video for her solo track "Dream." The collaboration award was presented at the ceremony in downtown Los Angeles, where Madonna and Carpenter opened proceedings with a lively performance of their song.

Madonna, who was the night's top nominee, praised working with Carpenter, noting how their different work styles complemented each other. She fondly recalled how Carpenter would show up early while Madonna sometimes arrived late. Madonna expressed her delight in their shared practice of writing lyrics on paper.

Lisa, a member of the K-pop group Blackpink, won the VMA for best pop video for her solo effort "Dream." She received the award while visibly emotional, thanking her fans, known as Lillies, for their support. Lisa thanked her fans for their love and support, adding that she wouldn't be there without them.

Taylor Swift was in attendance and was set to receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors. Swift had directed videos for several of her hits, including "The Fate of Ophelia" and "All Too Well," as well as her new single "Patient Zero." She was competing for the top honor of "video of the year" alongside Madonna, Carpenter, and Lisa. Winners in the top categories are determined by fan votes.
