Lisa makes history with Best Pop win at 2026 MTV VMAs

Los Angeles, USA — Thai K-pop sensation Lisa achieved a historic milestone at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, winning Best Pop for her collaboration with Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi on the track "Dream". The singer, representing BLACKPINK, celebrated her fourth MTV VMA victory by expressing gratitude to her fans, known as Lilies.

Lisa's win for "Dream" was significant, as it marked the second Asian artist to claim Best Pop, following BTS in 2020, and the inaugural solo K-pop or Asian artist to secure the category. The song faced competition from tracks by Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, and Taylor Swift. Lisa had previously been nominated for four awards at this year's VMAs, including Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.

The singer also showcased her Thai heritage with a high-energy performance of "SaWaDiKa" during the ceremony. The energetic display featured Thai-inspired visuals, a group of dancers, and a life-sized tuk-tuk, paying homage to her homeland. Following her award win, "SaWaDiKa" debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 7 on Digital Song Sales, according to Billboard.

The song is scheduled to be released as part of Lisa's upcoming six-track Press Play EP, which will be available on October 23 through Lloud and RCA Records. Lisa had previously won the Best K-Pop category at the VMAs in 2025 for "Born Again" featuring Doja Cat and RAYE, as well as for "Lalisa" and "Rockstar".
