Kano Gov: Tinubu must complete South’s 8-year tenure

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections to complete a power-sharing agreement between the North and South. Speaking at the flag-off of a vehicle donation to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Yusuf noted that the North had completed its eight-year tenure under Late President Muhammadu Buhari (2015-2023).

He argued that the South should now be allowed to complete its eight-year tenure under Tinubu before power returns to the North in 2031. The governor stated that Tinubu has served Nigeria for three and a half years, leaving four years to fulfill the agreed power rotation. Yusuf emphasized that re-electing Tinubu would ensure the South completes its eight-year term, after which the North would have an opportunity to produce the next president.

He appealed for patience from northerners, particularly those in the North-West, and urged politicians to focus on development and the welfare of citizens during the 2027 campaigns. Kano State remains committed to supporting the Federal Government's development agenda, citing infrastructure and human capital development as reasons for its support for Tinubu.
