KAI Targets Mexican Aerospace Market

On September 28, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA) and POSCO International. The agreement aims to establish practical supply chain cooperation and business models beyond mere technical exchange. KAI intends to create a stable manufacturing ecosystem through collaboration with local Mexican companies and explore new business opportunities in the Latin American market.

FEMIA, the largest aerospace organization in Mexico with over 100 member companies, plays a crucial role in the agreement. As a core partner, FEMIA leads exchanges with the local industry ecosystem, identifies optimal partner companies for KAI, and provides important policy information from the Mexican government.

POSCO International, contributing through its global network, plans to support the integration of local Mexican companies into KAI's aerospace manufacturing supply chain, offering practical assistance in logistics, finance, and operations.

KAI's pursuit of this cooperation aligns with 'Plan Mexico,' Mexico's national strategic industry policy. The Mexican government's strong commitment to fostering the aerospace industry has led KAI to increase its market share through localized strategies. KAI CEO Kim Jong-chul stated that this cooperation will contribute to promoting Mexico's national strategy, accelerating the entry of the domestic FA-50 light attack aircraft into Central America using Mexico as a base. The company aims to expand its export base to North and South American markets in the future.
