KAI, POSCO International team up for aerospace cooperation in Mexico

South Korean aerospace company Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI) has announced a strategic partnership with POSCO International Corp. and the Mexican aerospace industry group, FEMIA. The agreement, signed during President Lee Jae Myung's recent visit to Mexico, aims to bolster aerospace cooperation in the country and explore opportunities within the broader Latin American market.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) between KAI, POSCO International, and FEMIA was established to foster supply chain cooperation, identify potential local partners, and provide insights into relevant government policies.

KAI intends to develop business models focusing on supply chain cooperation, with POSCO International playing a key role in integrating selected Mexican companies into KAI's aerospace manufacturing supply chain. In the long term, both companies hope to expand the FA-50 light combat aircraft into Central America and strengthen their presence in North and South American markets.

KAI's CEO, Kim Jong-chul, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that it will accelerate their efforts to grow their market reach in the region.
