Iraqi political analyst: US withdrawal coordinated with Baghdad

Political analyst Najm Al-Qassab claims that the recent US withdrawal from Iraq was a coordinated arrangement between Washington and Baghdad. Al-Qassab elaborated on this claim in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, suggesting that the withdrawals have exposed Iraqi factions who were banking on the end of the US-Iran conflict to delay the handover of their weapons.

These factions had previously argued against surrendering their arms, as they believed their sovereignty was compromised by the US and the presence of Turkish forces in Sinjar, along with a lack of Peshmerga weapon unification. Al-Qassab further explained that these factions are relying on time until the end of the US-Iran conflict, as Iran aims to leverage these groups against the US.

He concluded that while the Iraqi government will vote on a law to transfer the weapons, implementing the disarmament process will be challenging due to the substantial number of arms involved, unless Iran participates in the political process. Al-Qassab emphasized that disarmament is indeed a complex matter.
