Infantino makes bigger cash pledge to Fifa members

Fifa president Gianni Infantino has pledged to potentially release more funds to his organization's 211 member associations, sourced from the club's estimated £4.4bn cash reserves. In a letter circulated to the six continental confederations, Infantino expressed support for the maximum amount of additional funding that can be responsibly provided.

The proposal follows the fallout from his cancelled Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan, which aimed to sell stakes in World Cup and other tournaments to private investors and faced significant backlash. Uefa and Concacaf, representing European and North American, Central American, and Caribbean teams, have requested Fifa to disburse $10m (£7.5m) to every member.

Infantino, who will run for re-election in March 2027, has stated he will not pre-judge the specific amount but emphasized that the proposed financing is merely the starting point of a broader policy discussion.
