Flights to Dubai face further delays after Sunday disruption

Delays to flights bound for Dubai persisted into Monday morning following disruption on Sunday. The situation at Dubai International Airport was such that flydubai planes originating from Kazakhstan, including one from Almaty scheduled to arrive at 7:30am and another from Tashkent due at 7:20am, endured delays of 52 minutes and 64 minutes respectively.

A flydubai flight departing from Dushanbe, Tajikistan's capital, experienced a 68-minute delay, pushing its arrival time from 7:50am to 9:07am. Besides these flydubai flights, several others arriving from Moscow, Yekaterinburg in Russia, and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan were also slated to arrive late at the Dubai airport.

On Monday morning, Emirates flight from London Heathrow to Dubai faced a rescheduling to 8:30am. These adjustments were being made throughout the day, but not all delays were solely attributed to the Middle East conflict. The war between Russia and Ukraine in recent weeks had also led to hundreds of flights being affected. Prior to the conflict, hundreds of flights to and from the UAE had been disrupted on Sunday, with some flights cancelled and over 40 delayed, many for more than two hours.

As of 8am on Monday, flights to and from Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport were largely running on schedule. Flights departing Dubai International Airport were also operating as normal. UAE airlines were nearing full capacity following a reduction in services during the height of the Iran war. Notably, Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow on September 19 had led to over 400 flight delays and diversions.

Travelers flying to and from the UAE were advised to check their airline's website for updates on their flight status before arriving at the airport.
