FBI lists gangster Goldy Brar among 10 most wanted fugitives, declares $1 million bounty

On September 28, the FBI added fugitive gangster Goldy Brar, also known as Satinderjeet Singh, to its prestigious 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List. The agency has significantly increased the reward for his capture from $50,000 to a staggering $1 million (approx. Rs 9.58 crore). FBI Los Angeles Field Office Assistant Director Patrick Grandy announced the addition during a press briefing.

Brar, a central figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group, is accused of involvement in numerous violent acts across Southern California, the United States, and Canada. This group allegedly carries out various criminal activities such as murder, extortion, drug distribution, and arson. Brar is believed to be based in the United States and serves as the alleged leader of the group's North American operations.

The case gained prominence following the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada in 2023. The US government charged Bishnoi and Brar with orchestrating this assassination in July 2024. However, Canadian authorities later stated that they found no evidence of Indian government involvement in the killing. The situation escalated after Operation Hardball, a US-led operation targeting transnational criminal organizations, which included Bishnoi's group.

In July 2026, the US attorney’s office unsealed three indictments against 37 individuals connected to these criminal enterprises. Goldy Brar and his network have been described as responsible for devastating the lives of countless people through high-profile murders, shootings, death threats, extortion, and drug trafficking. Lisa Moreland, the deputy commissioner of federal policing for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who is leading the investigation into Nijjar's killing, emphasized the severity of Brar's crimes.

The Canadian government had previously designated the Bishnoi enterprise as a terrorist entity in September 2025.
