Embrace eco-friendly practices, technical skills – Chief urges Ghanaians

Klefe Traditional Area's Paramount Chief, Togbe Koku Dzaga XI, urged Ghanaians to embrace eco-friendly practices as a means to protect the environment for future generations. He stated that Ghana cannot build a prosperous future on a degraded landscape, emphasizing that green technology and environmental mindfulness should be integrated into all technical skills taught to citizens.

During a grand durbar marking the end of the year's Yam Festival in Klefe, the Chief highlighted the importance of traditional conservation methods, saying that our forebears fiercely protected natural resources.

However, Chief Dzaga expressed concern that these core values were now under threat, warning that the country's development should never come at the expense of its natural ecosystem. He also condemned the rising rate of substance abuse among young people, expressing worry over the ease with which the youth can access harmful substances, and urged them to resist destructive influences and reject societal lies.

The Chief challenged the youth to take an active role in the "Reset Agenda" by mastering trades, embracing technology, and building practical skills. He charged the youth to resist destructive influences, reject societal lies, and actively fight for their future, warning that youthfulness is fleeting and that regret cannot reverse time.

Togbe Dzaga emphasized the need for traditional systems of discipline, care, and shared responsibility, urging the community to look out for each other's children and offer constructive alternatives to destructive paths.

The Yam Festival served as a critical vehicle for resource mobilization, with development funds generated over the past three years used to build a new five-unit boys' dormitory block for the Klefe Technical Institute. The Chief appealed for strategic support, infrastructural investment, and partnerships from the government, corporate donors, and international development partners to transform Klefe into a premier hub of skilled, disciplined, and productive labor.
