Seasonally adjusted figures from the Statistics Norway (SSB) reveal a 5.3% increase in sales volume for gasoline stations this month. However, senior advisor Anders Falla Aas of SSB notes the overall negative trend for gasoline retailers. The period from June to August is 6.5% lower than the same period from March to May, according to SSB's seasonally adjusted data.

This fall from August last year was 15.6%. Fuel prices have generally increased due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has led to higher prices for oil and petroleum products. Overall sales volume for retail trade grew by 0.6% from July to August, contributing to an expansion of the already weakening downward trend seen in recent months.

Another sector contributing to this uptick was non-fuel retail, with shops seeing a 0.9% increase in sales volume from July to August.
