CBI Books India Post Inspector In Bhopal Over 94.48% Disproportionate Assets

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against India Post Inspector Amit Vyas, who was found to have assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by more than 94%. The case centers around Vyas, an Inspector of Posts (MMU) at the Mail Monitoring Unit (MMU) in Bhopal, who resided in Meera Colony, Bhind. Allegations state that Vyas amassed significant assets during the period from January 1, 2020, to March 31, 2026, which far exceed his documented income.

During the investigation, the total income for the specific period was recorded as Rs 66,43,256, while total expenditures amounted to Rs 37,46,044. Based on these figures, the officers discovered assets valued at Rs 92,89,959 at the end of the check period, compared to Rs 1,15,536 at the beginning. The disparity, reaching Rs 62,77,211, or 94.48%, of the assets, led to the CBI taking action against Vyas.

When questioned regarding the sources of these substantial assets, Vyas was unable to provide any details, raising further suspicion. The CBI's investigation has now been initiated against the officer, with the case being registered in response to the alleged discrepancy.
