Cadangan laras gaji minimum perlu imbang kebajikan pekerja, kelangsungan majikan

Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir stresses the need for a balanced minimum wage scheme that considers the well-being of workers as well as the sustainability of employers, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Addressing reporters after visiting Kluang Police District Headquarters (IPD) today, Nasir said that several segments and mechanisms should be taken into account to ensure that the implementation of the wage increase is balanced for both workers and employers.

If there is any development, including a potential RM2,000 minimum wage hike, it should wait for the announcement by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim regarding the 2027 Budget. As questioned to comment on the potential impact of a RM2,000 minimum wage increase on the price of goods and services, Nasir said the federal government has allocated RM127 million for the renovation and maintenance of police stations and police quarters nationwide under First Rolling Plan (RP1) 2026 Malaysia Design 13 (RMK13).

This includes an additional RM5 million through Notice of Change (NOC) compared to the original budget of RM122 million. Out of the total amount, RM44.35 million is allocated for the renovation and maintenance of police stations, while RM77.65 million is for the renovation and maintenance of 3,716 police quarters across the country.

In Kluang, RM3.7 million is allocated, including for the upgrade of 10 police quarters and the renovation of the premises managed by IPD Kluang. He said this approach ensures that the development funding is targeted at genuine needs and provides impact on the delivery of public services.
