Busan pairings merge Michelin elegance with everyday classics

In the bustling port city of Busan, renowned for its pork rice soup and fresh seafood, two contrasting culinary realms are converging in a month-long dining extravaganza. The Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Tourism Organization announced on Monday that the 2026 Busan Gourmet Selection will commence throughout October, uniting 31 top-tier dining establishments in a groundbreaking cross-brand collaboration.

Now in its second annual biannual cycle, the festival pairs renowned culinary establishments to craft exclusive limited-run joint menus, signature reinterpretations, and unique tasting sets, available exclusively from October 1-31.

This fall's lineup builds upon the spring edition, featuring 15 collaborative teams encompassing high-end Michelin-starred establishments, historic local eateries, artisanal bakeries, and specialty coffee roasters. Six of the participating teams feature Michelin Guide-recognized chefs collaborating with local neighborhood favorites, while nine teams consist solely of local partnerships.

Notable among the featured pairings is the union between 1953 Hyeongje Dwaeji Gukbap, a legendary venue specializing in pork trotter soup, and a contemporary culinary institution pushing the boundaries of traditional flavors. This remarkable collaboration exemplifies the spirit of innovation and creativity that defines the Busan Gourmet Selection, as the city's culinary landscape continues to evolve and captivate both locals and visitors alike.
