Ghana Rugby president Rafatu Inusah named Team Ghana chief for 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games

The Ghana Rugby Football Union president, Rafatu Inusah, has been appointed as Chef de Mission for Team Ghana at the forthcoming 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games in Malta and Gozo. This prestigious role was bestowed upon Inusah by the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), who lauded her appointment as a significant honor and privilege. Inusah expressed her gratitude to the GOC for entrusting her with the responsibility ahead of the multi-sport event.

"I am truly humbled and honoured to be appointed as Chef de Mission for the 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games in Malta," she stated. "A heartfelt thank you to the Ghana Olympic Committee for this incredible privilege and honour." The eighth edition of the Youth Commonwealth Games will be held from October 29 to November 4, 2027, and will gather approximately 1,200 athletes aged between 14 and 18 from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories.

Inusah's appointment reflects the GOC's commitment to women's empowerment and the organization's efforts to boost the representation of female leaders in sports administration. As a member of the GOC board, she also sits on the Games and Technical Committee as well as the Women in Sports Commission. Inusah made history as the first female leader of the Ghana Rugby Football Union and has previously held the position of Secretary General for the Ghana Triathlon Federation.

She is also a member of Rugby Africa's Women's Advisory Committee. Her growing profile in international sports administration was further cemented by her selection for the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP) in the United States. Organized by the University of Delaware in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity, the program aims to develop future sports leaders and administrators.
