Bhiwandi Court Rejects Former BJP MLA Narendra Pawar’s Anticipatory Bail Plea In Alleged Gang-Rape Case

Bhiwandi Additional Sessions Court has turned down the anticipatory bail plea submitted by former BJP MLA Narendra Pawar in relation to an alleged gang-rape case. The court, on Monday, dismissed the plea submitted by Pawar and Shailesh Patil, a former police officer, who are accused in the case. The charges are linked to the rape of a 22-year-old woman by the two men on September 13.

The court has ordered the arrest of both the accused. According to the FIR, the woman approached Pawar seeking help to resolve a dispute with her husband. She was taken to a farmhouse in Bapgaon, Bhiwandi taluka, where she alleges she was sexually assaulted. The police have stated that the CCTV DVR from the farmhouse is missing and crucial for the investigation.

The defense team, however, presented chats and other materials allegedly exchanged between Pawar and the complainant to dispute the allegations. The court declined to grant interim protection to Pawar, emphasizing the need to hear both the investigating agency and the complainant before deciding the plea.
