Austin Hill Sounds Off On Spotter After SVG Kansas Incident

Austin Hill expressed his discontent with the team radio after a collision with Shane van Gisbergen during Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. Hill, who placed 26th, slammed the wall following a door-to-door race with SVG. Hill's frustration was evident as his spotter, Derek Kneeland, and van Gisbergen's spotter, Derek Kneeland, were both targeted by his angry radio comments.

At one point during the 267-lap race, Hill made contact with the outside wall exiting turn 2, seemingly nudged or bumped by van Gisbergen's Chevrolet on the inside line. Kneeland advised Hill to calm down, reminding him of their previous on-track clash with van Gisbergen earlier this year at Chicagoland. Hill insisted that they could not continue to race each other weekly as it would lead to destroyed cars and unfinished races.

Despite Kneeland's attempts to stay positive, Hill remained unimpressed, telling Kneeland to "just spot." This radio spat is reminiscent of a previous exchange between Hill and Kyle Busch at Texas Motor Speedway last May, following a heated battle for position. Busch also expressed his displeasure with Kneeland, calling him a "stupid [expletive]" during the incident.

Much like Busch, Hill did not appreciate Kneeland's attempt to calm him down. Similar to the situation with Busch, Hill did not take kindly to Kneeland's words, telling him to "just spot."
