[Asian Games] S. Korea settles for pistol team silver following shooter's miscue

South Korea secured a silver medal in the pistol shooting team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Monday. The country's top athlete, Yang Ji-in, made a costly mistake that cost them the gold. Yang, who also won an individual gold at the 2024 Olympics in the same event, was part of the team that was leading at the start of the day's shooting at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, about 60 kilometers east of Nagoya.

The team's performance was determined by adding the scores of three shooters from each team in the individual qualification round, which included precision and rapid fire stages with specific time limits for each shot. Yang's failure to fire her 21st shot within the three-second limit during the rapid fire stage led to it being counted as a miss, resulting in the team's silver medal finish.
