Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is scheduled to have an exclusive one-on-one dinner meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on Sunday evening, according to a tech industry source. This private dinner would mark their first face-to-face encounter, as reported by Axios. The invitation follows months of tension between the AI startup and the Trump administration, which culminated in a federal appeals court ruling that classified Anthropic as a supply chain risk, barring the US military from utilizing its models.

The startup faced sanctions from the Trump administration after refusing to allow its tools for fully autonomous weapons or domestic mass surveillance in February. Furthermore, Trump publicly criticized Amodei, accusing him of attempting to be a "perfect little angel" after he called for a pause in AI development. Despite growing calls for a slower pace of AI development due to concerns over loss of control over the technology, the US government maintains that major players in the sector, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta, cannot afford to slow down or risk falling behind China.

When questioned by Fox News on Sunday about the security incidents caused by advanced AI models, Trump dismissed these concerns, stating, "I'm not worried about it." Additionally, Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson are set to meet with leading AI executives on Tuesday.
