Al Kuwari: AIIB can boost Gulf connectivity

Qatar's Minister of Finance, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, has expressed optimism that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) can bolster connectivity and integration among Gulf states. Speaking to the Qatar News Agency, Al Kuwari highlighted the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors held in Doha, which broke attendance records with over 1,000 participants, including more than 48 ministers from various parts of the world.

This high-level gathering underscored Qatar's influential standing on the global stage. Qatar has been an AIIB founding member since 2015 and continues to be a strong supporter of the institution. Al Kuwari pointed out that AIIB finances a wide array of projects globally, including climate initiatives and other infrastructure developments.

The significant participation of ministers, officials, and decision-makers during the meeting in Doha further emphasized Qatar's esteemed international reputation and its capability to host major global events. Al Kuwari emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between AIIB and Gulf countries, particularly in financing projects that improve regional connectivity, boost economic integration, and promote sustainable development.
