3 traffic policemen martyred in attack on vehicle in KP's Tank

On Monday, three traffic policemen lost their lives and another three sustained injuries when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on a traffic police mobile van in Wazirabad area of Pakistan's Tank district. The attack left two pedestrians wounded as well, who were later transported to a hospital for medical assistance. In the aftermath, the attackers made a swift exit with the police van in tow.

Promptly, a sizable police force arrived at the scene to secure the area and initiate a comprehensive search operation to locate the suspects and recover the van. An ongoing investigation was conducted to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi voiced his profound anguish over the incident, extending condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers.

He directed authorities to provide the injured with comprehensive medical care and prayed for their full recovery. Earlier this month, a separate terrorist attack resulted in the martyrdom of 21 individuals, including 15 police personnel, in Kohat Police Lines. Additionally, a joint police checkpost in Tank district suffered a similar fate on July 26, claiming 15 lives, among them 12 soldiers, two policemen, and a government official.

In July, two more cops met their demise in an IED attack suspected by police. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region has been grappling with security issues, with the PICSS reporting a 50 per cent surge in terrorist attacks compared to the previous month.
