2027: Abia stakeholders rally support for Otti

On the weekend, stakeholders from Abia North gathered at the Isieke Civic Centre in Bende Local Government Area. They convened under the Alliance for Good Governance, reiterating their resolve to support Governor Alex Otti's good governance model beyond 2031. Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa, secretary and spokesperson of the group and former Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, stated that the purpose of the meeting was to reaffirm that Abia has never experienced better governance and that it must be sustained at all costs.

The group aims to ensure the continuation of good governance beyond 2031, calling for all hands to be on deck to actualize Governor Otti's second-term bid. They emphasized non-partisanship and urged the electorate, particularly at the grassroots, to educate themselves on the importance of supporting good governance. The stakeholders also agreed to undertake massive voter education, mobilize their youths against pressure or inducement from other parties, and ensure that those who receive money still vote for Otti and his candidates.

Former State Minister of Mines and Steel Development Dr Uchechukwu Ogah and renowned economist Elder Urum Eke highlighted the group's efforts to mobilize their structures for the upcoming general elections, emphasizing that Abians would no longer tolerate mediocrity in positions of trust. Convener of the Alliance for Good Governance, Chief Ebueme Ezikpe, and meeting host Sir Johnson Chukwu described the group as a structure that brings together influential opinion leaders to shape the state's governance direction, praising Governor Otti's achievements in introducing sanity into governance.
