Zinox founder inaugurates AI centres in schools

Leo Ekeh, founder of Zinox, has unveiled AI technology centres at two Lagos secondary schools as part of an initiative to enhance digital education and nurture Nigeria's future tech talent. The centres, established by the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation in partnership with Zinox Group companies, are situated at Gbagada Senior Grammar School and Lanre Awolokun High School in Gbagada, Lagos.

Each facility is equipped with Zinox desktop computers, AI-enabled screens, renewable-energy systems, and satellite internet, enabling students and teachers to access digital learning resources and online educational platforms.

During the commissioning ceremony, Ekeh, Zinox's chairman, encouraged students to leverage the technology and use their education to acquire skills that could lead to economic opportunities. He also called on the Nigerian government and state governments to invest more in education and pay teachers better, asserting that better-supported educators are vital to improving learning quality in the country.

The foundation plans to offer full university scholarships and advanced technology training to outstanding students. Currently, the foundation aims to produce 1,000 technology-skilled young Nigerians with globally recognized qualifications, with the first group of scholarship recipients already admitted to study computer science and computer engineering at Nigerian universities.

The Gbagada centres mark the latest in a series of education and technology projects by the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation, which has completed 123 projects across Nigerian primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions over the past 38 years.
