Zamfara, WHO Review Vaccination Campaign, Target Hard-To-Reach Areas

In a recent review meeting held at the Iconic University Hall in Gusau, the Zamfara State Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) assessed the recent vaccination campaign conducted in the state. The event, which brought together health officials, Local Government Area (LGA) teams, and other stakeholders, highlighted the significance of effective coordination and dedication from the LGA teams in ensuring the success of health interventions throughout the state.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, emphasized the importance of strong collaboration and commitment from the LGA teams. She commended their efforts in reaching communities across Zamfara and urged them to maintain their progress in future vaccination campaigns.

Dr Murtala Salahudeen, Incident Manager at the Polio Emergency Operations Centre, also spoke at the meeting. He praised the LGA teams for achieving over 95 per cent settlement coverage in the areas targeted by the recently concluded IBRA Round 2 campaign. Salahudeen attributed this success to strong grassroots mobilization and effective coordination among health workers and other stakeholders.

He urged the teams to intensify their efforts, particularly in reaching underserved, hard-to-reach, and security-compromised communities. According to Salahudeen, continuous and strengthened efforts are crucial to ensure that no eligible population is left behind in future vaccination campaigns.
