When AI disagrees, people don’t change their original view

New research from the University of Michigan reveals that people tend to hold onto their original opinions even when artificial intelligence disagrees with them. Contrary to expectations, encountering an AI that challenges one's reasoning does not necessarily lead to reconsideration. Instead, individuals may simply discount the AI's response, affecting their perceptions of the technology rather than altering their own views.

This study, published in Computers in Human Behavior Reports, highlights the need for developers to consider the implications of AI disagreement on user interactions.
