Vote! Who should be Maps Credit Union boys Athlete of the Week?

This week, Maps Credit Union is seeking votes for their Athlete of the Week in the boys category. The Statesman Journal invites the public to weigh in on who deserves the recognition by visiting statesmanjournal.com/sports. The poll is set to close at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st.

Cascade boys soccer player Liam Clausen, a junior, is one of the nominees. Clausen scored the opening goal in a 2-0 victory against North Marion on September 22nd.

Oregon School for the Deaf student Jorryn Freeman, a sophomore, also made the list. Freeman ran an impressive 18-minute, 39.9-second 5,000-meter race to secure first place and a new school record during the Jefferson Invitational on September 23rd.

West Salem's Sam Johnson, a sophomore forward, was another nominee. He scored twice in a 4-0 win against North Salem on September 21st.

South Salem's senior football player Sam Johnson, both a receiver and defensive back, had an impressive game against McMinnville on September 25th. He amassed 188 receiving yards, scored two touchdowns, and contributed with an interception and a fumble recovery.

Central boys cross-country athlete Hudson Stange, a sophomore, also made the list. Stange ran a season-best 17:07.3 for 16th place during the 34-team 1A/2A/3A/4A varsity race at the Northwest Classic in Eugene on September 19th.

Kennedy football player Jaden Traeger, a senior quarterback, completed the nominee list. Traeger scored two touchdowns in a 26-14 loss to Heppner on September 25th.
