Two reportedly die after being trapped in mining pit at Juaboso

Two individuals tragically lost their lives after becoming trapped inside a mining pit in Juaboso, located in the Juaboso District of Ghana's Western North Region. According to 3News, the unfortunate event unfolded on Saturday, September 26, 2026, when two men entered the pit to engage in mining activities around noon. However, they soon found themselves struggling due to extreme heat and poor ventilation within the confined space.

When the men failed to return by the following morning of Sunday, September 27, a concerned friend ventured into the pit to investigate the situation. Upon discovering the two men in a weakened state, the friend promptly alerted the community, leading to an organized rescue effort. The victims were successfully extracted from the pit and promptly taken to the Juaboso Government Hospital, where medical professionals sadly confirmed their demise.

One of the deceased, identified as Richard Oduro, also known as "Churches," was a resident of Juaboso Township. The identity of the second victim, who is believed to have originated from outside the community, remains unknown at this time. Authorities are currently in the process of investigating the incident and determining the exact circumstances that led to the tragic deaths of these two men. No official cause has been established yet.
