Two Naga civilians killed, two injured in gun attack in Manipur

In Manipur's Senapati district, two Naga civilians lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a gun attack on Saturday afternoon. The victims, Rocky from Chowainu village and Kumar from Laii Shirafii village, were shot dead inside a house belonging to the village chief of Kalenjang, a Naga village near Taphou Kuki. The identities and conditions of the injured individuals have not been disclosed yet; they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Two houses in Kalenjang village were set ablaze by the attackers in July, forcing the village to abandon. The village chief, Lhingjahoi Hangshing, condemned the arson and stated that they left the village due to the escalating tensions in the region. Police launched an investigation into the incident. Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh condemned the act as "cowardly," while former Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed concern over the growing number of civilian casualties and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
