To stop jewellery being sold to buy house, woman stages burglary

A 32-year-old woman allegedly staged a burglary at her rented home in Dighi to prevent her gold and silver jewelry from being sold to buy a new house, according to police. The ex-serviceman husband reported the stolen ornaments to the police around 3 pm on September 25, stating that family members had left for Ganesh idol immersion.

The door was found unlocked, clothes scattered, and jewelry missing. Despite examining CCTV footage, mobile phone data, and interrogating residents, investigators found no evidence of an outsider breaking in. The woman confessed, revealing her intention to conceal the jewelry to stop it from being sold for a new house. The ornaments, valued at Rs 13,98,978, were recovered shortly after the complaint. Further legal action will follow.
