Lawyer seeks govt, IGP’s intervention in Abuja land dispute

An Abuja lawyer, Mathew Onoja, has called for government and police intervention in a land dispute involving a property in Kado, Abuja. Onoja's client, a lessee of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), claims he is being unlawfully ousted from the property despite a pending court case over the land. The lawyer argued that the circumstances surrounding the purported allocation of the property to another party were abnormal and unusual.

He alleged that the property is under a lease from the FCTA, and his client was invited by the police to file a petition alleging the illegal allocation of the property to another party. Onoja claimed that before the investigation could be concluded, an attempt was made to take over the property, resulting in the destruction of parts of the premises.

He urged the government, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the FCT minister to intervene, calling on all parties to maintain the status quo until the court determines their respective rights.
