To protect pomegranate yield, farmers use CCTV shield – solar powered, with night vision

Farmers in Pune, Solpaur, Anshik and Ahilyanagar are employing CCTV cameras, some of which are solar powered with night vision, to protect their pomegranate harvests from theft. In previous years, thieves targeted the high-value Bhagwa variety of pomegranates, which are now being monitored during the harvest period using these advanced security measures.

Sandeep Yelbhar, a farmer who lost pomegranates to theft last year, now uses a CCTV camera connected to his mobile phone that sends live feeds and alarms for any suspicious activity. This technology has become increasingly popular among farmers as the availability of affordable cameras with live feeds has made it possible for them to monitor their fields from home.
