Ashutosh Ranka says team CJP's ‘illegal detention’ by Assam Police 'finally ended'; Dipke reacts

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has accused Assam Police of arbitrarily detaining its co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and team members in Guwahati. The authorities have not provided any reason for the detention or released the detainees. The CJP alleged that the party's team has been in custody since earlier today and has not been informed of the reason for their arrest.

In response, the party's team has initiated a hunger strike to protest against the arbitrary detention and denial of their basic rights. The detention reportedly occurred on Sunday morning, just before the CJP's scheduled regional volunteers' meeting near the Assam Secretariat. The meeting aimed to bring together volunteers from Assam and neighboring northeastern states.

During the police's attempt to remove Ranka and other activists, Ranka claimed that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was "scared" of the CJP's campaign that highlighted the state's government schools' condition. The CJP has been actively conducting its 'School Thik Karo' campaign in Assam, which involved school visits and interactions with local residents and volunteers.

Ranka also alleged that people in Kaziranga National Park were being denied their rights, stating that land, forests, and water were being transferred to corporations. Moreover, the CJP has been raising concerns about electoral-roll revision in Assam and recently announced a campaign against alleged exclusions from the draft electoral rolls.
