Tisdale Jr. racks up 309 passing yards, 4 TDs in Western Kentucky’s 52-7 win against Mercyhurst

Rodney Tisdale Jr. delivered a stellar performance for Western Kentucky, throwing for 309 yards and tallying four touchdowns in the team's 52-7 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday. Twelve different Hilltoppers secured catches during the game. This marked the final home game for the Hilltoppers, the latest home opener for the program since October 1, 1983.

Nigel Johnson made the game's opening score with a 72-yard catch-and-run during his sole receiving opportunity. Western Kentucky dominated the contest, scoring on five of their six first-half drives. One of these drives concluded with a field goal, while the other ended at halftime. Brock Glenn contributed as a backup quarterback, scoring on a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter and then taking over full-time for the remainder of the game. He completed 4-of-6 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

The Hilltoppers added three more touchdowns in the second half, with a fumble marking their sole non-scoring drive of the contest. Zion Taylor, Cameron Flowers, Ajay Allen, and Quincy Burroughs each scored receiving touchdowns. Alex Gevaudan's Mercyhurst (1-4) was no match for Western Kentucky, as QB Tisdale completed 22-of-44 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown.

The Lakers' only touchdown came via a 10-yard pass from Gevaudan to Shalik Hampton in the third quarter. Mercyhurst's next game is against Long Island University next Saturday, while Western Kentucky faces New Mexico State on October 1.
