SCO national coordinators to meet in Islamabad from Sept 28

National coordinators from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) are scheduled to convene in Islamabad from September 28 to 30 to discuss the agenda under Pakistan’s leadership of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27. The Foreign Office announced that this inaugural SCO Council of National Coordinators (CNC) meeting will be presided over by Pakistan’s SCO national coordinator and will feature representatives from SCO member states and SCO Secretariat.

During this meeting, the coordinators will deliberate on a broad spectrum of SCO cooperation matters, including the activities program under Pakistan’s chairmanship, upcoming SCO events, and other organizational issues. As 2026-27 SCO CHS chair, Pakistan aims to propel the organization's goals under the theme "Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation and Shared Prosperity."

This includes enhancing connectivity, fostering innovation, boosting economic cooperation, and strengthening interpersonal relationships to transform the SCO's collective vision into concrete, mutually beneficial actions. Pakistan will collaborate with all member states and the SCO Secretariat to advance these priorities and deepen SCO collaboration.

This meeting signifies a significant early step under Pakistan's SCO CHS leadership and will aid preparations for high-level engagements and activities during the chairmanship, including the SCO CHS meeting set for August 2027. Pakistan took on the SCO CHS chairmanship in September during a summit in Kyrgyzstan, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif outlined a focused plan prioritizing IT and AI, energy development, poverty reduction, disaster management, health, culture, and sports, advocating for the realization of SCO's objectives through enhanced regional connectivity.
