Russian forces strike port and civilian infrastructure in Odesa Oblast

Across Ukraine, Russian attacks claimed 14 lives and left 57 people injured, with Odesa Oblast bearing the brunt of a mass assault, according to local authorities on September 26-27. In this southern region, Russian forces struck a residential building, a medical facility, a hotel, a shop, and a grain storage facility, resulting in one death and two injuries, reported Governor Oleh Kiper.

Ukrainian air defenses downed or neutralized 147 of the 170 Shahed-type attack drones launched by Russia overnight on September 27, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. These attacks targeted residential buildings, energy infrastructure, and other civilian facilities in multiple oblasts, including Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv.

President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted that Russian forces launched over 2,200 attack drones, 1,650 aerial bombs, and 38 missiles during the past week, causing widespread damage. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, four fatalities and five injuries were reported due to Russian attacks, with the region enduring 989 strikes on 59 settlements.

Donetsk Oblast witnessed three deaths and five injuries following Russian strikes across the area. Sumy city suffered a Russian glide bomb attack, resulting in two deaths and 28 injuries, including four children.

Poltava Oblast experienced damage to power lines after a Russian drone crash, leaving around 500 residents without electricity temporarily. In Kharkiv Oblast, Russian attacks killed two individuals and injured three others, while Kyiv was targeted by Russian drones, causing harm to residential buildings and warehouses.

In Kherson Oblast, one person was injured in Russian attacks, with a high-rise apartment building, nine houses, a shop, and vehicles damaged. Similarly, in Poltava Oblast, a Russian drone crash damaged power lines, temporarily disrupting electricity for around 500 customers. Zelensky reiterated that Russian forces had launched over 2,200 attack drones, 1,650 aerial bombs, and 38 missiles against Ukraine in the past week.
