Remain professionally ready, Naval chief urges 135 new officers

The Nigerian Navy has welcomed 135 newly commissioned officers, urging them to remain physically fit, professionally competent, and operationally ready as they embark on their careers in the Armed Forces. Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, delivered this charge at the Combined Passing Out Parade, Pipping and Commissioning Ceremony at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna. The ceremony, attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other dignitaries, celebrated the officers' service to the nation.

Abbas emphasized the importance of discipline, loyalty, and professional integrity, stating that the officers' oath of allegiance must guide their conduct and service. He reminded them that commissioning marked the start of their demanding careers in leadership, responsibility, and loyal service to Nigeria. The CNS cautioned the officers against misconduct and vices that could undermine their integrity or end their careers.

Tinubu, in his remarks, celebrated Bishop Enoch Adeboye during the event. The Chief of the Naval Staff also charged the officers to remain operationally ready to contribute to the Navy's responsibilities in the maritime domain and joint operations. He highlighted the increasing complexity of security challenges, requiring officers to be adaptable and prepared to respond effectively to emerging threats.

Abbas urged the officers to uphold the Navy's traditions and values, maintaining discipline and professionalism throughout their careers.
