Rocco Becht takes accountability for Penn State's loss to Wisconsin

Three weeks after taking on the role of Penn State's starting quarterback, Rocco Becht demonstrated the seasoned, composed, and steady qualities fans had come to expect. However, that changed dramatically in a surprising Week 4 defeat to Wisconsin. For the first time in his Penn State uniform, Becht was unable to find solutions to Wisconsin's defense, as if he had lost key playmaker Koby Howard, who had contributed significantly in recent games but was sidelined due to injury.

Upon reflecting on his post-game media availability, Becht expressed the sentiment many fans were hoping to hear. "I need to be better for the offense. I need to be better for this team," he stated. Becht's willingness to acknowledge his shortcomings may be comforting for some Penn State supporters who may have previously criticized his post-game comments from previous coaches.

This newfound accountability could be a welcome change in an era marked by lackluster responses from previous coaches. Nevertheless, Becht's performance under pressure remains a cause for concern. While some fans may view Becht's recent performance as unacceptably poor, especially against a lower-ranked Big Ten team, others may be more forgiving, attributing the poor showing to the absence of Howard. Whether Becht's newfound accountability will translate into improved on-field results remains to be seen.
